Samsung WindFree: weak cooling or dripping – what is not a fault

Summary (editorial)

The manual lists simple causes such as a dirty filter, sun on the outdoor unit, settings or a kinked drain hose. Regular refrigerant top-ups are not correct.

From the manufacturer's documentation (English source wording, with page)

  1. When it is hot outside, cooling capacity decreases due to the increase in ambient temperature. When the dust filter gets blocked or warm outside air gets in, cooling capacity decreases – clean the dust filter frequently, close the doors, use curtains or blinds[1]
  2. Cooling gets weak when considerably hot: the outdoor unit is exposed to direct sun light and heated air is not ventilated well – set up a sunblind over the outdoor unit[2]
  3. It is not correct to charge refrigerant regularly; except when moved several times or the connection pipes are broken, the refrigerant does not run low[3]
  4. It fails to do cooling when set to ventilation or the desired temperature is set higher than the current temperature – select cooling or set the desired temperature lower[4]
  5. Water drips from the indoor unit – place the drain hose properly; straighten out the drain hose[5]

⚠ Work on refrigerant circuits, mains electricity and PV DC wiring is for qualified technicians only.
